Went for afternoon tea. Very pleasant, no loud music so we could talk in peace. Very tasty offerings of both savour and original plates. Plenty on the plates. Pleasant staff.

We have been very impressed with this hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Everywhere so clean. The lunch we had was very good and the waiter was very attentive. We live In Buckinghamshire and each time we visit friends and family we look forward to staying at the County Hall. A big thank you to all the staff who work there.

I love this hotel. The rooms are nice and do the job well. They get 4/5. Plenty of parking. But the food and waiting staff are what really make it shine. 5/5! Breakfast and dinner were fantastic on both days. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious- very good chefs and a shout out to the fabulous guy (maybe French?) in charge of breakfast service.

Perfect hotel for a night out and great service at reception. Place may seem a bit dated but it does the job nevertheless.

I came here for an afternoon tea and I had the savoury option. It was really great and I was absolutely stuffed and couldn’t finish it all. The mini fish and chips were great. The tea was lovely. But it isn’t an afternoon tea ‘experience’. Certainly not when sat in the corner of the conservatory overlooking the car park. The room was empty so I’m not sure why they put customers in that section first. That being said, you get what you pay for and it was tasty and filling.

Only used the meeting rooms and the ballroom for a dinner. Very easily accessed as it is within a 7min walk from the Chelmsford train station, and there's ample parking at the back. Warm and the bar is roomy. Great catering by the staff for a dinner with about 60 guests. It was a Burns Night dinner of Cock-a-leekie soup, haggis with whiskey sauce, mashed potatoes and carrot. I had the cheese plate while others had the apple pie in custard which was reportedly very good. Thank you to the staff who made it an excellent night.

We used the bar/ restaurant for relaxed lunch and to check the location out for a business meeting next Friday. The overall experience was great! Parking excellent, I have a blue badge, there were adequate facilities both parking and toilet. I'm not great on my feet but found the concrete carpark ok and the slightly raised decking fine for my purposes. Thresholds we also not a problem. The bar/restaurant was perfect for a relaxed lunch. We had Butternut squash, Sourdough with butter and two types of coffee. The location is super convenient for business meetings. Service was laid back, the bar was comfortable. We preferred this to the dining room on this occasion and for the intended purpose, to check out the location for next Friday and our business appointment. We both loved the venue. An observation. The bar menu is rather similar in food offering to the restaurant and the prices the same. The style of the menu in each case different, the restaurant menus delicately charming. The bar menu glossy and a little bit louder, though not at all out of place. We had a lovely lunch at rather reasonable price. Surroundings were pleasantly furnished, toilets clean, staff attentive. We will be back. Suits our purpose on this occasion and the next planed visit we are certain will be well catered for. Thank you County Hotel Staff. TD

Stayed here for two nights with our wedding guests, as our wedding venue did not have accommodation. The rooms were more 3* and probably need a refurbish but the service was 10* so will definitely be back, maybe on our anniversary! I have never experienced as professional and friendly a service as we did at this hotel - Andra and Yulia in particular were extremely accommodating to my wedding stress and last minute guest bookings! Please give them a raise! Thank you both of you for helping my wedding weekend be as wonderful as it was. Ratha
